The Environmental Public Health Office of the Henry County Health Department conducted and released three routine inspections.

County inspectors identified three critical violations and four non-critical violations.

Los Amigos Mexican Restaurant in New Castle had one critical violation and two non-critical violations during a complaint visit on Aug. 16. Cockroaches were observed with the establishment. Dead cockroaches were observed on sticky traps in the establishment. The physical facilities were in need of a deep cleaning throughout.

Los Amigos provided the Henry County Health Department receipts showing pest control inspection and treatment on Aug. 8.

Casey’s General Store in Spiceland had two critical violations and two non-critical violations during a routine visit on August 19. Some boxes of food items were observed stored on the floor in the walk-in freezer. Single service items were stored on the floor in the dry-storage. The deep fryer and the sides of the oven were observed to be soiled with grease. The three-compartment sink’s spray faucet was observed without an air gap. Sanitizer buckets were observed being stored on food prep tables.

Dollar General in Spiceland had no violations at this time.

Unless there is an immediate risk to public health and safety, Indiana regulations give business owners 10 days to review food inspection reports before releasing them to the public.

According to the Indiana State Health Department (ISHD), critical violations are “more likely than other violations to significantly contribute to food contamination, illness or environmental health hazard.” Restaurant operators are required by law to correct critical violations at the time of inspection, unless the health inspector agrees to a longer time frame to correct more complex issues.

For more information on local restaurant inspection reports, visit the health department at 1201 Race St., Suite 208, New Castle, or call 765-521-7059.
